ARMY CADET SERVICE MEDAL

This medal is awarded to cadets who have service 4 years or more of continuous service in the Army Cadet program.

How to obtain the award:
  • Complete the application for the army cadet service medal and present it to the commanding officer of the cadet corps
  • Initial award to a serving cadet for 4 years of continuous honourable service
  • Additional years' service having 5, 6, or 7 years completed
  • Award to a former cadet (Requires a $10.00 payment to the Army Cadet League of Canada)
  • Replacement medal (Requires a $10.00 payment to the Army Cadet League of Canada)

THE LORD STRATHCONA MEDAL

This medal is awarded for demonstrating proficiency in the skills required to be an Army Cadet.  One medal may be awarded per year, however it will only be awarded to an appropriate candidate.

Selection Criteria:
  • High standard of physical fitness
  • Minimum silver star qualified
  • Attendance of 75% of parades in the year of application
  • Attendance of 50% of training activities in the year of application
  • Three years of cadet service
  • Regarded as an exemplary cadet by peers

THE LEGION MEDAL OF EXCELLENCE

The Legion Medal of Excellence is awarded for demonstrating a high level of commitment to the Cadet Corps and to the community.  One medal may be awarded per year, however it will only be awarded to an appropriate candidate.

Selection Criteria:

The cadet selected for this award must have a wide range of experience in the activities of the Canadian Cadet Movement and have:
  • Attended at least 75% of the corps local training;
  • Participated in the corps outings / weekend exercises / cultural visits;
  • Preferably attended at least one national or regional cadet summer training course;
  • Participated in corps citizenship projects;
  • Demonstrated a high degree of physical fitness.
  • Attained a high standard of proficiency in qualifying to a training level not below Red Star.
